Workplace Enrichment – Smart Building, Inc.

Workshop     1st Staff Meeting     2nd Staff Meeting     3rd Staff Meeting     Observation

10/28/13 – Workplace Enrichment "Workshop" Oakland, CA

Evaluation Results Smart Building, Inc. Executive Management Team – 6 participants

1. Something I liked about today's training …

  • Learning about the "5 things"
  • We were all together without complaints or fault findings
  • To hear all the coworkers opinions
  • The foundation of what could be a long lasting relationship
  • The interactions between my coworkers
  • Focused on positive, not negative – and learned things about others

2. One important thing I learned today is …

  • Others can compliment and you can accept it
  • When there is a problem try to solve it in the best possible way
  • Communication and acceptance is one of the keys to a successful company
  • To take 5 minutes for myself
  • Being intentionally positive/looking for the good
  • To be intentionally positive

3. What will be most useful for me as I move forward with my coworkers is …

  • Try to make others feel welcome & comfortable around me & when they need to talk to me
  • Attempting to be easy to be around
  • Trying to assume the best, not worst
  • Honesty, communication

4. One thing I will do as a result of today's training is …

  • Try to make work fun through interest in others so they feel my support
  • Communication
  • Have a better attitude. Focus in on positive things
  • Practice
  • Make others feel comfortable around me by being intentionally positive. I know I can be negative so I need to work on being more positive.

5. Because of today's training I feel:

More comfortable around my co-workers  .  .  .  .    1 – yes     5 – sort of     0 – no

I have a more positive outlook about my job    .  .    5 – yes     1 – sort of     0 – no

Our workgroup is more team oriented       .  .  .  .    0 – yes     6 – sort of     0 – no

6. One thing that could be done to improved this training is …

  • Maybe go 2 x around so you can get better (when taking turns)
  • To be real and honest with one another
  • I think for Smart Building's purpose it needed to be more personal. I think the issues @ SB are not so much positive workplace as it is personality conflict.
  • More real world experience

7. Your thoughts about the trainer …

  • Knowledgeable person, gives a good environment to the group
  • Good trainer
  • Joe was a great speaker and knows what he's talking about
  • Nice guy, lots of experience
  • Sincere, wants to help, believes & is courageous about training this
  • Great stuff

8. Comments and suggestions please …

  • I would like to see this training 1 year from now and how it has evolved
  • Thanks for the effort
  • It's hard to leave everything aside and start from scratch, I think it needs to be a little more of knowing the history and if there's any animosity or problems within the company, then go from there

Workplace Enrichment "the practice of WE" is delivered with one training day, followed by three coached staff meetings. The above comments are from the training day. The three coached staff meetings are scheduled for 11/6, 12/4, and 12/18/13.

If our goal is to "make it easy for others to be around us" we need to understand each other. Evaluation followed by posted results is one way to understand. ~ Joe Tassinari, Workplace Enrichment Trainer

Comments

  • Confrontation was not good, but needed.
  • I think we may have broken through some new ground with the "conversation" between two colleagues.
  • Not enough time spent on Smart Building work issues.
  • This team needs a lot of improvement.
  • Some rough edges were exposed but at least there was opportunity to settle and understand.
  • Sick of people.

This concludes the full Workplace Enrichment series: one workshop followed by three coached staff meetings.

The senior staff of Smart Building, Inc. is set to have biweekly staff meetings where participants will take turns facilitating the meeting. The facilitator's goal is to ensure that each participant has equal access (equal turns) and that the meeting moves along to fit into their 90 minute time frame.

The meetings are successfully operating with kindness, ease and fun!

  1. Each meeting facilitator can decide what is on the agenda and choose to leave out the “Agenda Topic” if desired.

One benefit of having an Agenda Topic is that you can plan a short (1-5 minute) activity around it to highlight a point of interest. The actity provides one more relationship building interaction during the meeting.

It can be used to showcase (a new client, a particular project, a Workplace Enrichment concept, etc.), teach (a building technique, an office procedure like conference calls, marketing campaign, etc.) or explore (new administrative position, problem solving, fact finding, etc.).

It gives the facilitator room for creativity and endless possibilities. The key is to keep the activity short, relevant and make it fun!

    Thanks for asking!
