Strengths Based

As a strengths-based practitioner I’m sometimes asked what this means. A good definition is: Strengths-Based – observing and acting upon what is working well.

All organizations and its members have strengths. When these strengths, and the beneficial outcomes of these strengths are observed and validated it improves quality of life, employment skills and overall health.

strengths basedI was recently apprised of President Clinton’s quote from his inaugural address Jan. 20,

1993 when he declared: "There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America."  Politics aside, the meaning within these words brilliantly describes the context of a strengths-based method.

This wisdom can be applied to a nation, a company, a family or any group.

What’s right with your organization? Reveling this as team establishes a collective safety around what is already working well.  Once safety is recognized, the identified strengths can be leveraged to create actions for improvement.
